Awesome

Karco,
I really liked this one. It was awesome. Where do you find all your good drum samples? I seem to have a little trouble with that. Just wanted to let you know that I like your song and great work!
NightHawk22

Karco responds:

All of the drums in this track are VECs 1 and 2. :)

Thanks for reviewing!

Not too shabby

I wish there was a little bit of a deeper, heavier and more substantial bass to lead the chord progression, and I think the drums are ok, but I would like to have heard some kick drum in there. You did a good job with the lead synths, but it was hard to tell where the downbeats were b/c there was no kick. but not bad for a second song. Keep up the good work.

DJ-CawkNBawlz responds:

Thanks for the reveiw.

I'll probably remake the song sometime soon. The reason there isn't any kick drums is cause I didn't really know how to change the settings on anything, and I don't like any of the default kicks. I've been looking at tuts and messing around with it alot though, so my next subbmission should be alot better.

pretty good

wow, that was pretty good. I think that would be a great foundation for adding drums and some solo guitars. Did you play that yourself on a guitar? I think the only thing that would make it better would be to make it a full-fledged song with drums and guitars etc.
NightHawk22

yokomeso responds:

Ya, all of it was on my guitar,a full session with no stopping or editing (that's why it is hard to duplicate)

I thought the same about drums and solo, but to tell you the truth, i was really lazy and just exported the file on a high quality MP3 and uploaded it straight here.

If I were to come back to it (which I might) I would deffinatly get a beat to it with a second guitar in there somewhere.

Thx for ur review!

I 5ed it to offset the zero bombing jerk

I like the idea of the song. It's really relaxing, and I like the melodies, they flow really well. I especially like when the counter melody comes in. It even kindof sounds like the melody and chord progression of ParagonX9's Defcon Zero. Just a little though. So good job on all that stuff. I personally would have used different synths, maybe different or louder pounding drums. To make it more trance-like.
Over all good job.

unrealdark responds:

ParagonX9!? Wow, not my meaning of all to let it sound like that. :)
And yeah kick those 0 bombers in the nuts! :D
Also thx for he review and the 8! :-)

good for starters

yeah, I can see some similarities, it's pretty good. I like how you changed up the hihat, didn't do that when I first started. Now I'm no DnB expert, but I think it could have a little more complexity in the drums. check out ParagonX9's stuff. In particular, Defection and Chaoz Japan. In fact, anything that starts with Chaoz is pretty much insane.

boney-man responds:

true.

i love chaoz japan.

great work yet again!

I love the piano sample, or what you did to it anyways. It suddenly builds with intensity. Not very long, but still inspiring and dark and dreary at the same time. It would make a good intro to the theme of your next song. I'm telling you, you have something in you for classical!
your friend,

Karco responds:

Hah! I found this one not by clicking on the "Reviews for Karco -- Falling Farther -- ! button, but instead by clicking on the list of your reviews. Weird, that it won't show up on my page. Anyway...

Not much else to add. Glad you like it so much! (And an intro to the theme of my next song? Do you mean whatever's my work in progress right now, or the latest on my audio page - my unnamed song? Aah, well.)

Glad you like it, NightHawk. I am pretty good with classical but like I said in my other response, I'm just about done with it. For now or for good, I'm not sure. But thanks for the review, and glad you like it.

classical..?

are you moving to the classical genre?
well, so far, I like it. I like the piano, but I think you could probably find better samples for the orchestra. Like one that has smoother transitions b/t notes. I have no problem with the melody or notes, it's just samples. Although I hear a great brass sample in there. What inspired this piece? It seems pretty dark near the end. Like something you'd hear in a movie after the village is raided and destroyed. It was great, It faded in at the beginning and out at the end. I love it, I also think you could find a better piano sample. That sustains the notes longer.
over all great work, I can feel your emotions in this one.
NightHawk22
What did you use? Not FL, right?
anyways, long time no review, thought I'd catch up on your latest.

Karco responds:

Hey, NightHawk. Odd, I found a new review on both songs but it only shows up on this one. I'll respond to this one first and see if the other one shows up after this.

The answer is no, I'm not moving to the classical genre. I've just been trying my hand in it lately to see how good I am with it. And I think I'm not that bad... heh. But I'm just about done, I think, with one more song I'm still deciding whether or not I want to submit. (If you or anyone else wants to hear it if I don't, just send me a PM.)

Well, I agree I could find better samples for the orchestra - everything I used was FREE! (Not illegal, just free. Soundfonts and all.) So, naturally, it isn't as high quality as the music that comes out of those who bought their instruments. (And, actually, I did use FL. Hah! I can give you the soundfonts I used if you want them, though. Drop me a PM sometime.)

Nothing else to add. Thanks for the review, Nighthawk, glad you enjoyed my song. I definitely did put a lot of effort into it.

great first song

nice drums. not too bad for a first song. I like the melody synth. To me, this seems more like a trance song. but that's just my opinion. If you're gonna put stuff in the techno section, try to make it less repetitive. Over all, though it works as a techno song and is very good for a first song. Although i think it could have used a little more diversity throughout the whole thing.
NightHawk22
P.S. maybe you can review some of my songs sometime?

The-prototype responds:

yeah sure i would love to Review some of your stuff and yeah i ment to put it under trance. but yeah thanks for the Review and i hope my next song will top this one off.

thanks for the review

Thanks for your review on my latest song - Hyperdestructive.
now on to your song!
Not bad intro, oh man, I loved that sound before the pounding beats, I was hoping it would bust into a nice melody or something, but you got some good drums going on. But the drums, which seem to be a big part of the piece, seem to be repeated through out the whole piece. But I guess that's acceptable because it's trance. Anyways, nice first song. Which, by the way, is it your first song or just your first posted song?
anyways, thanks again for the review,
NightHawk22
P.S. 5/5 and 10/10 for a good start on Newgrounds!

Lucovic responds:

yes this is my 1st song, and my 1st posted.

great work!

this is some great stuff. Bass isn't overpowering, I like that sound at the beginning! Not very long, but I guess that's how drum and bass is, right? This gets a 5/5 from me! I'll check out some of your other stuff some other time.
NightHawk22

DSMagnum responds:

Well, DnB stuff can be very long, depending on who the artist is. This was short because it was meant to be a loop. I have some other DnB tracks that are longer than this, but nothing finished yet.
